Wikwemikong Cultural Festival

Wikwemikog Unceded Indian Reserve, often referred to as Wiky, is located on a peninsula in the north-eastern section of Mannitoulin Island, Ontario, Canada. As an “unceded” reserve, it has never relinquished the title to its land to the government, either by treaty or any other means. The reserve is the venue for the Wikwemikong Pow Wow, a cultural festival held annually during the first weekend of August. The event is attended by many aboriginal dancers who come from far and wide to compete in traditional dance and drum competitions. And not only aboriginals are welcome; many non-native people who have an interest in First Nation culture join in the celebrations. Wikwemikong is also the base of a professional theatre company, the De-ba-jeh-mu-jig Theatre Group, which produces and stages plays set around the First Nation’s life and culture. The group was founded by Shirley Cheechoo, an award-winning, multi-talented actress, writer and visual artist from the North-American aboriginal Cree nation.

theme for my assignment 1

I am a fan of Dream Catcher , so i was thinking for my Assignment 1 my e -wallpaper theme will be  "Wikwemikong Cultural Festival"

Held every Civic Holiday weekend in August, the Wikwemikong Cultural Festival is Eastern Canada’s longest running pow-wow and Manitoulin’s premier event.
The pow-wow showcases a wide variety of authentic native song and dance and is an opportunity to witness the finest dancers from across North America come together to share their intricate dance styles and traditions.

Apologies for the delay in updating my assignment 1, it was due to too many changes in my selection on the theme and after deep thought and  reading relevant information, "Wikwemikong Cultural Festival" is my final theme for my Assignment 1.

Graphic is not just graphic.

this is my personal blog for computer graphic, hence i will  update my blog based on whatever experiences that I went through during working together with group member on computer graphic  assignment. In other words it integrates with experiences or other activities in meeting the goal. It will look likes a group blog when actually it will be my personal view or comments or perhaps  sort of story telling blog. I'll try to update this blog to the best of my ability and constructive and positive comments are very much welcome.

Introducing Adobe Photoshop

Introducing software Adobe Photoshop, well i'm using adobe CS3.. its much easer then adobe cs4 or adobe cs5, even though its little bit advance but its fun playing with the tools

Photoshop Toolbox
The Photoshop toolbox is the most important user interface with this complex
program, and includes the primary tools to work with graphics. These include
the tools that let you use type, and select, paint, draw, sample, edit, move,
annotate, and view images. Other tools in the toolbox allow you to change
foreground/background colors, go to Adobe Online by either clicking the
feather Adobe logo at the top of the pallet or by going to File > Adobe
Online

To view the name of a tool button, hold
your mouse pointer over the tool you
want to see, and the name will appear as
a tool tip. (See the image right.) Some
tool buttons have multiple tools
combined into one button. Tool buttons
with multiple tools have a small triangle
in the lower right hand corner of the
button.

The type tool creates type on an image, or selections in the shape of type.

The lasso tools make freehand, polygonal (straight-edged),
and magnetic (snap-to) selections.

The annotations tool makes notes and voice annotations that can be attached to an image.

The spot healing brush tool removes blemishes and other
imperfections in your photos by sampling pixels from
around the retouched area.

The healing brush tool repairs imperfections in a selected
area of an image using a selected sample or pattern.

The patch tool, like the healing brush tool, matches the texture, lighting, and shading of the
sampled pixels to the source pixels. You can also use the patch tool to clone isolated areas of an
image.

The red eye tool fixes red eyes with one click. Set options to adjust pupil size and darkening
amount.

The marquee tools make rectangular, elliptical,
single row, and single column selections.

The brush tool paints brush strokes.

The pencil tool paints hard-edged strokes.

Color replacement tool replaces specific colors in your
image. You can paint over a targeted color with a corrective color.

The slice tool creates slices. (Slices are what allow you to actually split up a larger image in
Photoshop so it loads faster on the internet.)

The gradient tools create straight-line, radial, angle,
reflected, and diamond blends between colors.

The paint bucket tool fills similarly colored areas with
the foreground color.

The history brush tool paints a copy of the selected
state or snapshot into the current image window.

The art history brush tool paints with stylized strokes
that simulate the look of different paint styles, using a
selected state or snapshot.

The dodge tool lightens areas in an image.

The burn tool darkens areas in an image.

The sponge tool changes the color saturation of an area.

The eyedropper tool samples any color in an image
and sets the foreground (drawing) color to it.

The color sampler tool samples colors in an image and
records them for reference.

The measure tool measures distances, locations, and
angles.

The clone stamp tool paints with a sample of an image.

The pattern stamp tool paints using part of an image
as a pattern.

The eraser tool erases pixels and restores parts of an
image to a previously saved state.

The background eraser tool erases areas to
transparency

The magic eraser tool erases solid-colored areas to
transparency with a single click.

The blur tool blurs hard edges in an image.

The sharpen tool sharpens soft edges in an image.

The smudge tool smudges data in an image.

The hand tool moves an image within its window.

The zoom tool magnifies and reduces the view of an image.

The move tool moves selections, layers, and guides.

The magic wand tool selects similarly colored areas.

The crop tool trims images.

Using palettes
Palettes help you monitor and modify images. By default,
palettes appear stacked together in groups. Palettes groups
can be separated by “undocking” a certain palette and
rejoined by “docking” it into a group. Click and drag on the
palette title to move a palette from one group to another.

Displaying palettes
You can display or hide palettes as you work.
On the right in the Options Bar is the palette well. This is a
space where you can keep palettes that you don't use as
frequently or don't want occupying your workspace. It
keeps them easily accessible, but hidden from view until
you need them.
In the default workspace, you should have title tabs for the
Brushes, Tool Presets, and Layer Comps palettes in the
palette well. You can drag other palettes to this area and
they will remain hidden there until you click on the palette
tab to reveal it. When you need access to one of these
palettes, just click on the title tab, and the full palette will
expand below its tab.

To show or hide palettes:
Do one of the following:
• To show or hide all open palettes, the options bar,
and the toolbox, press Tab.

• To show or hide all palettes, press Shift+Tab.
To show or hide one pallet:
Choose Window > then the pallet to hide or show. A
check mark will appear beside palettes that are visible.

Theme for the Calendar

Today during our lecture session, Dr Neo Mai had asked every each of group member to come out with one theme for the calender. on our last meeting we already decided  that our calender theme will be the "seasons"  but today we changed it to "Fun With Color". Each of our group member has agreed to that theme. I hope that we can work on  it  with some of the fantastic colors.

Third meeting at zebra crossing

last Monday 18 October 2010, my group member and i went to the library to update our blog, but unfortunately there was  no internet connection at the library. We tried several time to access the internet but were still failed. our group leader told us that there are internet signal around the conner close to the zebra crossing. We went there for the internet connection and  updated our blog only for an hour because our laptop had ran out of battery. As everyone was demotivated to  complete the assignment, we left the conner  for late dinner.

An Exciting trip to be remembered

The next day on Friday October 16, 2010, we had our second day outing for our group assignment. Thank you once again to AB, our group leader who had willingly "chauffeured" us to the city center to look for  interesting locations for our Enamjahanam group photos. We discovered a colorful location whereby rows of graffiti were painted on a wall. We had to climbed over a big monsoon drain to get to the location. We had fun photographing our group photo there. We had refreshments and zohor prayer at Central market (CM) and around 2.30 pm we went to Digital Mall for next photo shoot assignment. Another group of friends who had volunteered to be our royalty-free models arrived half an hour later. We started the photo shoot immediately and had our late lunch at McD. One of the group member realized that her purse was missing while she was about to order her meal.We had suspected her purse must be taken by one lady while she was praying in the CM surau. We had suspected her being the culprit because she was the only one that we saw inside the surau and walked out in a hurry and suspiciously. We lodged a police report on our way back to MMU at Balai Polis Sungai Way.We arrived safely in MMU at 9.40 pm.We enjoyed and had great time during our outing trip to the City Centre but felt sorry for the unfortunate incident that happened to one of our member.

Enamjahanam first day out

Enamjahanam had a group photo with "model and supporters" at the end of photographing session minus the photographer (Deeb)

On Thursday October 15, 2010, our group member  named "enamjahanam" had our first outing for our computer graphic assignment. We have decided to photograph our own photo  rather than taking photo from website. We went to a few places around Puterajaya to look for some locations to take photos. We left MMU around  9.30 pm and completed our photograhing outing  passed midnight. Thereafter  we had late dinner at Cyberia and arrived at our hostel at 2 a.m.

A Little bit this and that about Deeb
